WETLAB – Marine biology research centre

WETLAB is our Marine Biology activity centre manned by our resident Marine Biologist who is also a dive instructor.

WETLAB runs many exciting in-water activities that feature Marine Biology as well as providing entertaining and informative presentations:

• DOLPHIN DISCOVERY – Learn the basics about spinners and bottle nose and hop onboard to hopefully watch them in their own habitat.

• BIOQUEST! Discover marine life on an adventure with our resident Marine Biologist – learn and experience first-hand, turtles, mantas and sharks!

• BLOWHOLE – snorkel exploration with a BIO focus.

• BIO PHOTO ADVENTURE – a WETLAB small group trip (max. 4 persons). Take some great shots of marine life with our underwater digital cameras (supplied) while guided by our Biologist on this snorkeling adventure. We burn your shots to CD for an excellent souvenir.

• IT’S ALIVE!  – Coral reef awareness and regular Marine Biology presentations on the amazing life found in the Indian Ocean. The guests are also able to contribute to the growth of coral plantation by adopting a “baby turtle tray” to have the coral placed in, and have it planted in the reef.

• REEF SNORKELING WITH SCOOTERS – Take the effort out of snorkeling -discover Velassaru house reef with wonderful ease pulled along by our simple-to-use scooters.

• NIGHT SNORKELING – Discover the reef by night for a magical experience; your guide accompanies you on this thrilling 45 minute adventure; wetsuit and underwater lamp provided.
