Air Astana to offer direct flights to Maldives this December

Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, Air Astana, is set to offer direct flights between Kazakhstan and Maldives starting from 5th December. The flights will operate from Almaty to Velana International Airport twice a week, on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The airline’s brand new Airbus 321LR aircraft will be used.
Prior to COVID-19, Air Astana operated scheduled, domestic and international flights on 64 routes from its main and secondary hubs, Almaty International Airport and Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, respectively.
Airplane design features add an extra layer of protection by helping to reduce the frequency of in-flight signaling. This includes: use of HEPA filters with a removal efficiency of more than 99.9% of bacteria / viruses and high speed of fresh air entering the passenger compartment. Air is exchanged 20-30 times per hour on board most aircraft.
Maldives reopened its borders to international tourists on 15th July with the reopening of several resorts and liveaboards. Guesthouses also resumed operations on 15th October. There is no quarantine on arrival but all tourists are required to fill an online health declaration form within 24 hours prior to departure and submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test result, conducted maximum 96 hours prior to departure to Maldives.
Maldives has also introduced the first COVID-19 travel insurance in the country, Allied Inbound, which covers medical charges, isolation facility charges, emergency medical transportation charges and interment charges following a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 during their stay in the country.
