This International Men’s Day, Milaidhoo Maldives is celebrating the men who have helped shape its story, from the visionaries behind its creation to the gentlemen who continue to make the island what it is today.

As Milaidhoo marks its tenth anniversary this November, the occasion offers an opportunity to look back at the people and ideas that have shaped the island over the past decade. The vision behind Milaidhoo continues to influence its approach to hospitality, with a strong connection to the Maldivian way of life.

To mark the day, the island will host Gentlemen & Cocktails, a cocktail-making challenge inviting male guests to step behind the bar and create their own signature drinks.

The experience begins with a workshop led by the expert bartenders at Compass Pool Bar, who will introduce participants to the basics of cocktail-making. Once the workshop is over, it will be time to put their new skills to the test.

Each gentleman will receive a black box containing secret ingredients to use as the starting point for his creation. He will also have to select one additional herb, vegetable or aromatic ingredient from the Chef’s Garden. With a time limit in place, participants will need to get creative and come up with a cocktail of their own.

The judges will be their partners, who will taste each creation and select the winner based on flavour, presentation and originality.

The winning cocktail will be featured as the Cocktail of the Day at Compass Pool Bar for one week. The winning couple will also be able to enjoy as many servings of their creation as they wish throughout the remainder of their stay.

For Milaidhoo, International Men’s Day is an opportunity to recognise the men who have contributed to its journey and those who continue to be part of its story. Ten years after its creation, the island remains shaped by the people, ideas and shared experiences that make it what it is today. This International Men’s Day, it is the gentlemen’s turn to take centre stage.
