GoAir resumes direct flights to Maldives

GoAir has resumed its flights to Maldives under the travel bubble currently established between Maldives and India. Three airlines are currently traveling to Maldives under this special arrangement, including Air India and SpiceJet. 11 weekly flights are scheduled to be operated.
The travel bubble initiative which was initiated on 25th August has enabled a regular path with weekly flights between the two countries. Indigo Air and Air India are also currently operating flights, along with the resumption of flights from Thiruvananthapuram to Male’ with the reopening of borders.
Despite the reopening of Maldivian borders to tourists of all nationalities, there has been a notable reduction in tourist arrivals compared to the pre-COVID figures. However, with the increase in flight resumptions and connections, the Maldivian government hopes to have an increase in the number of tourists arriving by the end of the year.
Tourist resorts and liveaboards resumed operations in July whereas guest houses were reopened in October. Tourists entering Maldives are required to fill an online health declaration form within 24 hours prior to departure and present a negative COVID-19 pcr test conducted within 96 hours prior to departure to Maldives.
