India becomes the second top market to Maldives after the reopening of borders

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Tourism show that from 15th July till 19th November, Maldives witnessed the largest number of tourist arrivals from Russia, with over 12,961 Russian tourists.
As of now, India follows with over 5,449 tourist arrivals. Maldives has and continues to witness multiple Bollywood celebrity visits to the island nation.
To provide more convenient travel options to visitors from India, Maldives and India have formed a “Travel Bubble” with airlines AirIndia, GoAir and SpiceJet. 
In adherence to this, Visit Maldives has been continuously working with the Indian market to increase tourist arrivals from the country. Currently, a joint campaign with WeddingSutra is also taking place in order to market the honeymoon segment of Maldives to potential customers. In addition, a campaign with Over-the-Top (OTT) video streaming platform is also taking place. The targeted advertisement is running on the VOOT platform from 6th November till 3rd December. An Instagram Live conference with several Indian celebrities is also set to commence on 27th November.
A global media campaign with ten key markets has also been launched by Visit Maldives. Among these key markets is India and an online brochure is currently available for the market, providing Indian tourists with the necessary information prior to traveling to Maldives.
Maldives has seen over 59.105 tourist arrivals since the borders reopened on 15th July. The total number of tourist arrivals has reached 382,760 for this year. Currently, over 1,991 tourists are marked on a daily basis.
