Kuda Villingili Resort Strengthens Community Impact with Second Consecutive Blood Donation Drive

Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives, a Green Globe Certified property known for its extensive sustainability initiatives and commitment to community welfare, proudly hosted another successful Blood Donation Drive on 29th August 2025. The initiative, held in partnership with Maldivian Blood Services under the Ministry of Health, witnessed strong support from the resort’s ambassadors. This marks the second consecutive year of the resort’s contribution to this life-saving cause.
The Blood Donation Drive aligns with Kuda Villingili’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, embodying the resort’s philosophy of 'time and space redefined' by transforming community health outcomes and addressing vital healthcare needs in the Maldives. The collected blood will play a critical role in supporting patients with medical conditions, including those affected by Thalassemia, a prevalent genetic blood disorder in the Maldives.
Maldivian Blood Services, the nation’s leading blood bank and transfusion service provider, operates under the Ministry of Health with the mission to ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply across the country. Their collaboration with Kuda Villingili reflects a shared vision of improving public health outcomes and raising awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donations.
Participants in the drive were evaluated against key eligibility criteria to ensure donor safety and the quality of blood collected. Eligible donors were required to be in good general health, aged between 18 and 65, weigh at least 50 kilograms, and have normal haemoglobin levels. Individuals with certain health conditions or recent medical procedures were temporarily deferred.
Thalassemia, a hereditary blood disorder affecting haemoglobin production, remains a significant public health concern in the Maldives, with one of the highest prevalence rates globally. Kuda Villingili’s efforts in addressing this issue reflect the resort’s commitment to redefining lives by supporting initiatives that tackle critical health challenges and uplift the community. Patients with Thalassemia often require frequent blood transfusions to manage their condition, underscoring the critical need for regular blood donations to meet the increasing demand.
Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives extends its gratitude to Maldivian Blood Services and all participating ambassadors for their contributions to this impactful initiative once again this year. Through collective efforts, the resort reaffirms its dedication to fostering a healthier, more compassionate community.
