Lufthansa resumes weekly flights between Maldives and Germany

German airline giant Lufthansa has resumed its flights between Maldives and Germany on 28th October 2020. According to the schedule, the service will also extend to year-round, with two weekly flights offered in the summer of 2021:
  1. LH704 FRA2005 – 0855+1MLE 333 26
  2. LH705 MLE1050 – 1805 FRA 333 37
The flights from Frankfurt to Male’ are offered by the Lufthansa core brand, using an A330-300 jet. These flights can only be booked via lufthansa.com. Book well in advance with their best fare finder and save hard cash from a wide range of offers; the best-value flights to Male’ from Hanover are available in January 2021 for as little as 588 €.
Despite the reopening of Maldivian borders to tourists of all nationalities, there has been a notable reduction in tourist arrivals compared to the pre-COVID figures. However, with the increase in flight resumptions and connections, the Maldivian government hopes to have an increase in the number of tourists arriving by the end of the year.
Tourist resorts and liveaboards resumed operations in July whereas guest houses were reopened in October. Tourists entering Maldives are required to fill an online health declaration form within 24 hours prior to departure and present a negative COVID-19 pcr test conducted within 96 hours prior to departure to Maldives.
Maldives has also introduced the first COVID-19 travel insurance in the country, Allied Inbound, which covers medical charges, isolation facility charges, emergency medical transportation charges and interment charges following a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 during their stay in the country.
