Maldives to Explore the Future of Real-World Asset Tokenisation through Digital Ownership Summit 2026

Visit Maldives partners with CEG Group to bring a summit to Maldives at the centre of the global conversation on digital ownership, tourism investment and real-world assets
Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has announced a partnership with Switzerland-based CEGStake AG to bring the inaugural Digital Ownership Summit 2026 to the Maldives, creating a focused international platform to explore how digital assets and real-world asset tokenisation could contribute to the future of tourism, infrastructure and investment in the country.
The Digital Ownership Summit will take place on 12 December 2026 at CROSSROADS Maldives, bringing together a carefully curated group of global leaders from real-world assets, financial technology, investment, hospitality and digital finance. Attendance will be limited to a maximum of 100 participants to facilitate focused discussions, meaningful connections and tangible outcomes.
The Summit comes as the Government advances Maldives 2.0, the national digital transformation vision of His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The initiative seeks to transform the delivery of government services, strengthen economic opportunities and build a secure, inclusive and innovation-led digital economy. Its eight pillars encompass areas including trusted digital transactions, data governance, cybersecurity, sovereign digital infrastructure, modern legal frameworks, sectoral digital transformation and digital economy development.
Against this backdrop, discussions at the Summit will examine how tangible Maldivian assets, including resorts, overwater villas, islands under development, marinas, renewable-energy projects, aviation infrastructure and blue-economy ventures, could be responsibly represented, financed or made accessible through emerging digital ownership models.
Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, said:
"The Maldives has always progressed by being open to new ideas and by connecting our tourism assets with global capital, talent and innovation. Through this partnership, we want to create a credible international platform in the Maldives where policymakers, regulators, asset owners, technology providers and investors can examine how digital ownership and real-world asset tokenisation may responsibly contribute to the next chapter of Maldivian tourism and economic development.
"This Summit is fundamentally about exploration, education and constructive dialogue. It is not about endorsing any particular token or investment product. Any future application must be supported by clear regulation, transparency, strong governance, investor protection and measurable long-term value for the Maldives. It also supports VMC's wider objective of attracting high-value international events and strengthening the Maldives' position in the global MICE segment."
The growing relevance of real-world asset tokenisation to the Maldives is already visible within the country's tourism sector. In November 2025, DarGlobal and The Trump Organization announced Trump International Hotel Maldives together with what they described as the world's first tokenised hotel development, introducing a model through which the development phase of a luxury hospitality project could be connected to digital investment structures.
In February 2026, World Liberty Financial, DarGlobal and Securitize subsequently announced plans for a regulated tokenised offering linked to loan revenue interests in the Trump International Hotel & Resort Maldives project. The proposed structure is intended for eligible investors and remains subject to applicable securities, compliance and investor-qualification requirements.
These developments reinforce the importance of ensuring that the Maldives is actively represented in international discussions surrounding the legal, financial and technological frameworks for tokenised real-world assets. The Digital Ownership Summit will provide a platform to examine both the opportunities and considerations associated with these models, including regulation, governance, liquidity, custody, valuation, cybersecurity and consumer protection.
Kai Zimmer, Client Relationship Manager of CEGStake AG, said:
"The Maldives is one of the few destinations where globally recognised tourism assets, ambitious development opportunities and a forward-looking national digital vision come together. The Digital Ownership Summit is being designed to move beyond theoretical conversations by bringing the people who own and develop real assets into the same room as the institutions, regulators and technology providers building the future infrastructure of digital ownership.
"Our objective is to create a focused environment where credible projects can be examined, appropriate frameworks can be discussed and meaningful relationships can be formed between the Maldives and international capital."
The Summit programme will feature keynote addresses, policy discussions and institutional perspectives alongside sessions examining practical applications for tokenised tourism and island assets. The programme will also include a curated deal room, project presentations, one-to-one engagements between asset owners and potential investors, technical working sessions and selected site visits, with bilateral discussions and strategic meetings forming part of the wider programme.
CEGStake AG is also a Premier Sponsor of the Visit Maldives Creators Summit and Creators Awards, supporting Visit Maldives' efforts to bring leading international content creators, digital storytellers, tourism professionals and creative industry leaders to the Maldives.
For Visit Maldives, the partnership forms part of a broader effort to diversify the country's tourism proposition and attract high-value international business events. By hosting dialogue at the intersection of tourism, investment, technology and policy, the Maldives can showcase itself not only as a leading leisure destination, but also as a meeting point for international leaders examining issues relevant to the future of tourism and investment.
CEGStake AG is a Swiss-registered group headquartered in Zug, operating an interconnected ecosystem across real estate, international investment, company formation, brokerage, fractional ownership and digital assets. Through the Digital Ownership Summit, Visit Maldives and CEGStake AG aim to establish a responsible platform for dialogue around the future of ownership, while connecting the Maldives with institutions, investors, entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world. In the wider context of Maldives 2.0, the Summit will contribute to the national conversation on how emerging digital models can be approached responsibly while creating new opportunities for tourism, investment and economic development.
Any investment concepts or projects discussed during the Summit will remain subject to applicable Maldivian laws, regulatory approvals, due-diligence requirements and relevant international compliance standards. Participation in the Summit does not constitute investment, legal or financial advice, or an endorsement of any specific financial product.
