Maldives to Host the 15th World Bodybuilding and PhysiqueSports Championships at Canareef Resort Maldives
The Maldives is set to make history this November as it hosts the 15th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships at Canareef Resort Maldives. This prestigious event, running from November 5th to 11th, will be the largest international sports competition ever held in the Maldives.
With over 500 athletes and officials representing 55 countries, the tournament is expected to attract global attention, showcasing not only the athletic prowess of the competitors but also the natural beauty of the Maldives as a premier destination for world-class events. The official launch of the event took place at the VIP lounge of the Galolhu Football Stadium, inaugurated by the Maldives Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Mr. Abdullah Rafiu. Joining him were distinguished figures such as the Commissioner of Sports, Mohamed Thalaal, the General Secretary of the Maldives Olympic Committee, Mr. Thamouh, and Mr. Ahmed Hamza, Director of Canareef Resort Maldives, who will host the championship.
During the ceremony, a special video highlighting Canareef Resort Maldives and its stunning island scenery was shown, building excitement for the upcoming competition. Minister Rafiu emphasized that hosting an event of this magnitude signals significant progress for the Maldives. He expressed hope that it would pave the way for future international tournaments, positioning the Maldives as a prime location for global sporting events.
Mr. Ahmed Hamza noted the immense marketing opportunity this event represents, both for Canareef Resort Maldives and Addu Atoll. The President of the Bodybuilding Association of Maldives (BBAM), Ibrahim Hameed, expressed pride in bringing this championship to his home atoll of Addu. Previously, the Maldives successfully hosted the 2022 Asian Bodybuilding Championships and the South Asian Bodybuilding Championships, which laid the groundwork for hosting this prestigious world championship. World Bodybuilding Federation President, Datuk Paul Chua, acknowledged the Maldives’ successful history in organizing such events and expressed confidence in the country's ability to host the world championship with distinction.
