Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) hosted a special event to celebrate the World Travel Awards World Category 2024 achievements of Maldives securing the World’s Leading Destination for the fifth consecutive year and the World’s Leading Green Destination for the first time. The event was held on 27th November 2024 at Waterfront, Velana International Airport. 

The event was joined by Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal, CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, Ibrahim Shiuree, and CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed. 

Speaking at the event, CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, Ibrahim Shiuree, expressed his delight at receiving these prestigious awards. He stated, “We were honoured to receive these prestigious awards, which reflected our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional travel experiences and sustainable tourism practices. These accolades were a testament to the hard work and dedication of our tourism industry stakeholders, who had consistently strived to elevate the Maldives as a world-class destination.”

The event also marked the unveiling of the new ‘Maldives signage’ at the airport in recognition of the destination’s achievements, further enhancing the country’s global brand visibility.

By leveraging these prestigious awards and continued commitment to sustainability, the Maldives aims to solidify its position as a premier global destination. These achievements will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of the Maldivian tourism industry.
