Rossiya Airlines to Commence Direct Flights to Maldives
Rossiya Airlines is set to commence direct flights to Maldives from 14th November 2020 onwards. The Russian airline will fly once a week between Moscow and Male’ using a Boeing 747-400 jet.
Part of the Aeroflot Group, Rossiya Airlines is one of the largest carriers in Russia with a fleet of 54 aircraft with regular flights to 53 destinations around the globe.
Currently, Aeroflot also offers four flights a week whereas Azur Air flies three times a week and Nordwind Airlines flies twice a week between Vnukovo International Airport and Velana International Airport.
With these new developments, there is bound to be an increase in Russian tourist arrivals. Expanding the air connectivity between Moscow and Male’ will be a major boost to the efforts in revising the economy since the reopening of Maldives’ borders on 15th July.
Visit Maldives has also launched an advertising campaign on a leading TV channel in Russia to further aid in the marketing of the destination as one of the most preferred and safest destinations to travel to.
The Russain market is a traditionally strong market to the Maldives and is performing exceptionally since the reopening of borders. Presently, Russia is leading among the top arrival markets to the Maldives.
