SilkAir is flying to Maldives again

As per the initial plan to resume operations to Maldives in December, Singapore-based airline SilkAir is back in Maldives. Two weekly flights will operate between Changi International Airport and Velana International Airport (VIA).
SilkAir first introduced its flight operations to Maldives back in 2015, with 9 weekly landings to Maldives. The airline previously operated a single daily flight between the two countries, which was abruptly halted after Maldives closed its borders in March, amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
SilkAir's parent company Singapore Airlines is yet to release a flight schedule for the country.
Maldives reopened its borders to international tourists on 15th July with the reopening of several resorts and liveaboards. Guesthouses also resumed operations on 15th October. There is no quarantine on arrival but all tourists are required to fill an online health declaration form within 24 hours prior to departure and submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test result, conducted maximum 96 hours prior to departure to Maldives.
Maldives has also introduced the first COVID-19 travel insurance in the country, Allied Inbound, which covers medical charges, isolation facility charges, emergency medical transportation charges and interment charges following a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 during their stay in the country.
