Successful close of Burunulite Addu Edition 2026 marks strong turnout in Addu City

The Burunulite Addu Edition 2026 (Ronda Masrace 1447) concluded successfully on 29 May 2026 in Maradhoo, bringing together 24 teams from across the Maldives for a full day of competitive sport fishing under international standards.
Organised by Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) in partnership with the Equatorial Fishing Club (EFC), the event marked the first regional edition of the BurunuBoma fishing tournament series to be hosted in the southern atolls. The initiative forms part of VMC’s broader efforts to expand community-based tourism experiences and strengthen participation in marine sports tourism and adventure across the Maldives.
Burunulite is developed as a regional extension of the BurunuBoma International Sport Fishing Tournament, which continues to serve as the flagship professional competition. While BurunuBoma attracts international and elite anglers, Burunulite is designed to bring the experience closer to island communities, creating opportunities for local participation, tourism engagement, and small business activation.
The tournament saw strong participation from local clubs, organisations, and community teams, reflecting growing interest in recreational and competitive fishing within the atolls. Following a day of competition at sea, the event concluded with a ceremony recognising outstanding performances across team and individual categories.
