A new chapter in sustainability blooms at Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives with the launch of its ECO Park

A walk through Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives now begins not only with ocean views and warm hospitality but with a seedling of inspiration. The newly opened ECO Park at the resort offers an immersive window into sustainability in action, inviting guests to experience how conscious steps can nurture a more responsible tomorrow.
As part of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing ESG commitments in the Maldives, this green sanctuary was inaugurated to serve both an operational purpose and an educational one. The newly established administration office within the park coordinates eco-initiatives, while the grounds themselves come alive with more than 250 plants sourced from India and Sri Lanka. At the heart of the park lies a simple goal which is to turn every visitor into a participant in the planet’s wellbeing.
Guests were invited to take part in a tree-planting initiative, leaving their mark in the growing nursery which is a space that is set to transform into a butterfly garden in the near future. They were also given an inside look at the resort’s waste management processes, including a visit to the on-site incinerator and digester that supports the resort’s broader sustainability efforts.
The journey continued to the organic garden, where fresh island-grown produce adds flavour and purpose to guests’ meals, reinforcing the connection between responsible choices and everyday comforts.
“Our vision goes beyond creating beautiful stays,” said Sanjeeva Perera, Area General Manager for Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Maldives. “Through the ECO Park, we aim to connect our guests to the environment they enjoy here and help them understand how hospitality and sustainability can thrive side by side.”
As the ECO Park continues to evolve, so too does Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives’ commitment to mindful hospitality. Guests leave not only with memories, but with a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance between luxury and responsibility.
