CITY TO SEA: Pullman Maldives celebrates another Food Week in the island of Maamutaa, this time with a collaboration with Pullman Bangkok Hotel G and R&B Food Lab

This August, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa invites Chef  Sylvain Royer Scarlett Wine Bar and Restaurant at the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G as this  year’s Food Week ambassador. From city to sea, this collab brings the cosmopolitan  vibe of Bangkok to the Gaafu Alifu atoll through a week-long series of special dinners,  cooking and cocktail classes, and even an exciting Iron Chef competition. 
Since 2021, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa has been staging annual Food Weeks as  part of the Pillar Week series – four yearly events that celebrate the brand pillars of  sustainability, fitness, art, and of course, food. 
This year’s Food Week promises to be a sophisticated affair with special guest Chef  Royer, General Manager and Chef de Cuisine of R&B Lab that owns and operates a  number of multi-awarded and popular restaurants and bars worldwide, including  Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant, awarded a Michelin Plate in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and  25 Degrees, awarded the Best American Burger by the US Embassy in Thailand. Both  restaurants are housed in Pullman Bangkok Hotel G, located Bangkok’s ultra-hip  downtown neighborhood of Silom.
From August 12 to 18, Chef Royer will regale the island with a number of special dinners, such as a vegan/vegetarian tasting menu at Phat Chameleon, a four hands collaboration with Pullman Maldives’ executive chef Nyoman Suandari at Souq Oven, and finally, the highlight of the week, a wine dinner on the beach – where Chef Royer has exclusively curated a menu for a romantic evening under the stars.
Highlights from Pullman Bangkok Hotel G’s restaurants - 25 Degrees and Scarlett, will be featured daily in Mélange, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa’s all-day dining.
Aside from the fantastic dinners that the resort guests get to enjoy as part of the generous all-inclusive, Chef Royer will also be conducting cooking classes to an intimate group of guests who will have the unique opportunity to learn directly from his expertise.
A tradition of each Food Week at Pullman Maldives is the Iron Chef competition, where the resort’s chefs pair off into teams and participate in a rigorous and high octane contest of skill and creativity, to be judged by Chef Royer himself. With Chef Royer conducting masterclasses for the resort’s culinary team days ahead of Food Week, the competition truly begins a week before the actual contest.
To tie it all together, Chef Royer brings his star mixologist for a Scarlett Bar Take Over at Saffron Affair. Khun Ploy, as she’s known, will also be mentoring the bar team as they prepare for the Bartender Battles – a crowd favorite during Food Week.
