Honour Cherished Traditions with Island Bliss at Jumeirah Olhahali Island
Celebrate the Year of the Snake with bespoke dining, enriching rituals, and tranquil island moments at Jumeirah Olhahali Island.
This Year of the Snake, Jumeirah Olhahali Island invites guests to an extraordinary escape, embracing cherished traditions, culinary artistry, and serene wellness against the breathtaking beauty of the Maldives. From 21 January to 7 February 2025, the resort unveils a thoughtfully crafted programme to welcome the Year of the Serpent, celebrating time-honoured traditions through meaningful and immersive experiences.
At the heart of the festivities is the much-anticipated ‘Flavours of China’ culinary pop-up event, returning for its second year. Spearheaded by Chef Charles Liu, Chinese Executive Chef at Jumeirah Guangzhou, whose career spans over two decades at prestigious five-star hotels and grand banquets, Chef Liu and his team present an exquisitely designed six-course menu. Guests can savour dishes such as Typhoon Shelter Crispy Fried Oysters and Deep-sea Grouper Broth, alongside mains including slow-cooked Abalone with Fish Maw or braised Maldivian Lobster with Caviar. The menu continues with pan-fried Australian MB9 Wagyu Beef and steamed Alaskan King Crab Leg, concluding with a refreshing Raspberry Cheesecake and tropical fruits. Elevating this dining experience further, a curated selection of fine Chinese wines will be available to complement each course, ensuring a memorable feast for the senses.
The culinary celebrations extend with an array of seasonal dining experiences. Begin the day with an Asian-inspired floating breakfast, a vibrant medley of flavours enjoyed in the tranquil setting of a private pool. The evenings are equally enchanting, with the warmth and joy of fragrant broths and fresh ingredients at the oceanside hot pot dinner. The Asian market nights bring together the diverse flavours of the continent, offering a lively setting to enjoy regional delicacies by the gentle sound of the waves.
For those seeking serenity and renewal, Talise Spa offers a sanctuary to create unforgettable moments of pure bliss. Suspended overwater with glass floors, the spa allows guests to admire the marine life below during their treatments, adding a unique dimension to relaxation. Mia Liu, a visiting spa therapist from Jumeirah Guangzhou, introduces moxibustion therapy, an ancient Chinese ritual combining
therapeutic heat and a deep tissue massage to promote harmony and well-being. Additionally, Dr. Shagnika Pradhan, a naturopathy and holistic wellness expert, will host Reiki sound healing sessions, blending energy therapy with sound vibrations to restore balance and rejuvenate the spirit.
Immersive island activities further enhance the celebrations. At the MURACA Art Studio, guests can explore their creativity with workshops such as zodiac-inspired ceramic painting, candle crafting, and decorating traditional Maldivian coconut bowls, each designed to reflect the spirit of the season. Meanwhile, adventurers can delve into the surrounding marine ecosystem, snorkelling alongside turtles and tropical fish or spotting playful dolphins in the open sea.
Complementing these bespoke experiences are Jumeirah Olhahali Island’s contemporary overwater and beach villas, each bathed in natural light, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic views of palm-fringed shores and endless ocean vistas. All 67 villas are crowned with a private rooftop and infinity pool, offering rare opportunities to unwind and reconnect, whether through an intimate dinner or a personalised art class, where guests can transform their island dreams into lasting memories.
