I Feel Maldives Gears Up to Showcase at ITB China 2025 – Strengthening the Maldives' Footprint in the Booming Chinese Market

Lets Go Maldives, through its destination marketing initiative “I Feel Maldives,” is set to participate in ITB China 2025, taking place from May 27 to 29, 2025, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. This year’s participation builds on the Maldives' strong performance as the Official Host Country Partner of ITB China 2024, marking a continued effort to tap into one of the most promising outbound markets in the world.
This strategic showcase is further empowered by the recent MoU signed between I Feel Maldives and the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) , a partnership designed to align both public and private sector efforts in promoting the Maldives more effectively across international markets.
China in Focus: 2025 Outlook
The Chinese outbound tourism market is surging, and the Maldives is well-positioned to benefit:
● In 2024, China ranked as the #1 source market, contributing 263,340 arrivals (12.9% of total visitors) ● In early 2025 (as of May 12), the Maldives welcomed 101,814 Chinese visitors, accounting for 11.4% of total arrivals
● The Chinese outbound travel market is expected to grow by 40% in 2025, reaching over 180 million trips globally
● Chinese travelers are showing increased interest in luxury, wellness, nature escapes, and authentic local experiences all core to the Maldivian offering
Enhanced Air Connectivity with China
Air access has significantly improved to support this demand:
● Maldivian, the national carrier, has launched direct flights to multiple Chinese cities using new wide-body aircraft, enhancing travel capacity and passenger experience
● Scheduled services are maintained by Beijing Capital Airlines, China Eastern, Sichuan Airlines, and Hong Kong Airlines
● Direct connectivity now spans major hubs including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou What to Expect from I Feel Maldives at ITB China 2025
The I Feel Maldives stand will highlight curated experiences and authentic offerings for the Chinese traveler with a focus on partnerships, island stays, sustainability, and cultural depth.
Notably, I Feel Maldives will be located directly next to Maldivian (the national airline). As part of the joint representation, the stand will also showcase Maldivian’s expanding air connectivity between China and the Maldives, reinforcing seamless travel options for visitors and trade partners alike.
