In 2025, the Maldives is vying for the World’s Leading Destination title for the sixth consecutive year, a remarkable milestone in the history of the awards. The destination faces strong competition from 19 other globally acclaimed destinations, including Dubai, Greece, Indonesia, Spain, and Vietnam.

The Maldives’ nomination for World’s Leading Green Destination 2025 further underscores its commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism. Following its first win in this category in 2024, the nomination highlights the nation’s continued efforts to protect its fragile ecosystems while providing authentic, world-class experiences for visitors.
