Maldivian and SriLankan Airlines launch partnership to strengthen Maldives air connectivity

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, and SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka and a member of the oneworld alliance, have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing air connectivity between the Maldives and key international markets, while improving passenger access across both airlines’ networks.
Under this partnership, Maldivian will benefit from increased passenger flow from SriLankan Airlines’ extensive global network, enabling greater connectivity to 17 domestic destinations beyond Malé. This will significantly improve access to the outer atolls, supporting both tourism development and regional mobility across the country.
The collaboration will also provide international travellers with seamless connections to the Maldives via Colombo, strengthening links between major source markets and the island destination. At the same time, Maldivian passengers will gain improved access to a wider range of global destinations through SriLankan Airlines’ international network, offering greater convenience and flexibility for outbound travel.
“This partnership marks another important step in our efforts to enhance accessibility to the Maldives and strengthen connectivity beyond Malé to the atolls,” said Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Maldivian. “With SriLankan Airlines’ extensive global reach and our domestic network, this collaboration will support tourism growth while also making international travel more convenient for Maldivians.”
The agreement reflects both airlines’ shared commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, improving network integration, and delivering a more seamless travel experience. It is expected to further support the continued growth of tourism and business travel to the Maldives, while also enhancing outbound travel opportunities for Maldivian residents.
