The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) highlights tourism development initiatives and achievements as a leading destination, while speaking at the Maldives Media Meet held on 6th May on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024. This press conference was hosted by Visit Maldives and led by CEO & MD Fathmath Thaufeeq. 

In her opening remarks, CEO & MD Fathmath Thaufeeq commended the dedication of the Maldives’ travel and tourism industry and the government's commitment to sustainable practices. This focus ensures the islands' long-term prosperity for future generations. The recent recognition of the Maldives as the World Travel Award's Indian Ocean's Leading Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination,  Leading Green Destination and Leading Dive Destination further cements the nations’ position as a premier travel hub.

Building on the success of previous years, Visit Maldives continued its strong presence at ATM. She expressed her pleasure in welcoming attendees and fostering connections within the global travel industry.

The focus remains on exceeding expectations. Reaching 2 million tourist arrivals in 2024 is a key target, alongside increasing visitor nights and maintaining the Maldives' status as the World's Leading Destination. Achieving these goals relies heavily on the collaboration of all stakeholders within the Maldives tourism industry. 

Speaking further, CEO & MD Fathmath Thaufeeq highlighted the positive trend, with a 15.3% increase in tourist arrivals by March 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This momentum fuels optimism for achieving the ambitious tourism targets set for the year.

The Maldives Media Meet served as a platform to showcase the country's dedication to responsible tourism practices and its ongoing commitment to exceeding travellers' expectations.
