MMPRC Kicks Off 2025’s Global Roadshow Series with "Visit Maldives Week" in Russia
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) is hosting an exciting initiative, titled "Visit Maldives Week," involving a collaborative effort with 22 representatives from 14 different companies within the Maldivian tourism industry. The week-long event aims to showcase the diverse offerings of the Sunny Side of Life as a premier travel destination to the Russian market in 3 major cities of Russia.
“Visit Maldives Week” in Russia is the first of a series of global roadshows to be held throughout the year in major and emerging tourist markets. The roadshows for the Russian Market are being held in three cities: St. Petersburg on February 3rd, Moscow on February 5th, and Tyumen on February 7th. The event aims to provide a platform for Maldives’ tourism industry stakeholders to create new partnerships while strengthening existing ones, and providing the latest destination information about the Maldives.
To enhance the visitor experience at this event, there are interactive photo zones featuring the beauty of Maldives’ islands and properties. Additionally, a media meet is planned to be held in Moscow to provide tailored information to travel trade media and press representatives. A "Maldives Passport" with interactive questions are conducted to engage attendees and offer a chance to win prizes. The roadshows also feature productive B2B meetings, networking sessions, and destination workshops, fostering valuable connections and promoting the Maldives as a premier travel destination. During the event at the St. Petersburg attendees will have a chance to win a holiday prize sponsored by Canareef Resort Maldives. The prize includes a 2-night, full-board stay with return transfers for two people.
The Visit Maldives team has several upcoming activities targeting the Russian market including a webinar series; campaigns with tour operators and airlines; public relations projects; media familiarisation trips; and campaigns with Destination Management Companies.
The Maldives has seen a steady increase in tourist arrivals from Russia over the years. In 2024, Russia was our 2nd top source market and is currently ranked the 2nd top source market for the Maldives this year as well, with 20,902 arrivals in January. Visit Maldives aims to solidify the Maldives' position as the top destination for Russian travellers. Visit Maldives is confident that the roadshow series will be a success and further strengthen the Maldives' appeal in Russia.
