Prominent Team of Journalists Arrive in the Maldives to Experience The Visit Maldives Storytellers’ Conference and the Offerings in the Maldives
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives) extended
an invitation to some of Germany’s most prominent journalists and bloggers to experience
the world-class hospitality and sustainable offerings awaiting tourists in the Sunny Side of
Life. The team arrived in the Maldives on 29 May 2023, to immerse themselves in the unique
experiences, products, and Maldives’ renowned service standards until 4th June 2023. The
participants began the familiarization trip after taking part in the much awaited Visit
Maldives’ Storytellers Conference 2023. The team stayed at Le Meridien Maldives Resort &
Spa and W Maldives during their trip.
The team had the opportunity to experience Visit Maldives Storytellers’ Conference 2023.
The Visit Maldives Storytellers’ Conference 2023, held from 30th May to 2nd June, brought
together 70+ content creators from around the world to ‘Weave Your Maldivian Story’ at the
largest gathering of travel writers, journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media experts in
the Sunny Side of Life this year. At the end of the conference, the winners of the social
media competition held to select the participants of the conference, had the unique
opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty, experiences, and hospitality of the
Maldives. Participants enjoyed experiences ranging from snorkelling with mantas and whale
sharks to watersports, culinary tours, island-hopping, and even sandbank picnics.
The team consists of 4 Journalists representing 4 Publications and 1 PR Representative from
German Speaking markets (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) to provide the participants with
first-hand experiences of Maldivian hospitality through local life experiences, focusing on
affordable luxury and sustainability from the Sunny Side of Life. The team will share their
experiences with their extensive audiences through online articles, publications, and social
media platforms. This activity will help to build greater brand awareness and promote the
Maldives as a sustainable destination. With the combined reach of the media members, the
generated content is expected to exceed a reach of 2,568,000.
This exciting media trip is part of MMPRC's marketing strategy for German speaking
markets, with a focus on promoting the different products, experiences and trends of
Maldives tourism. The German market is currently the top 4th source market with 61,674
arrivals as of 6th June. MMPRC has big plans to further boost arrivals from the German
speaking markets this year with a series of campaigns and promotions.
