Visit Maldives expresses gratitude to His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for his continued support and guidance given to promote the destination. As a sign of appreciation, Visit Maldives presented the President with an official appreciation message and gift during his visit to the Maldives stand at the World Travel Market, WTM 2021 held at ExCel London on 3rd November 2021.
During the visit President Solih was accompanied by a high-level delegation. The President’s delegation was welcomed at the fair entrance by CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Thoyyib Mohamed. The President was then escorted to the Visit Maldives stand and given an official tour. Following the tour, the President was presented with an appreciation note delivered in a Tanu, on behalf of Visit Maldives.

In the appreciation note presented to the President, Visit Maldives thanked and expressed gratitude to the President for the constant support and guidance to Visit Maldives in promoting the destination, especially during the pandemic. The note read that the success and achievements of MMPRC is due to this support, and conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the President on behalf of Visit Maldives.
During his visit the President met with representatives from the Maldives at the WTM stand. He encouraged and commended them for endeavoring to promote the Maldives travel and tourism industry despite the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. An official photo session was also held during the President’s visit to the Maldives stand.

Maldives was exhibited in a 609sqm stand space, one of the biggest stand spaces to be exhibited in recent times, along with a large contingent of over 104 representatives, which is indicative of the priority given to further boost and revive tourism in the country. During the event Visit Maldives and industry partners conducted one-on-one and in person meetings. A press conference was also held by Visit Maldives during which information was given to the attendees by Managing Director and CEO of MMPRC, Thoyyib Mohamed, the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdullah Mausoom and Ms Zuley Manik Executive Director of Sun Siyam Resorts on the second day of WTM. Visit Maldives also held a roadshow in the UK to promote MICE opportunities available in the destination after the conclusion of WTM London 2021.
WTM London, one of the largest and most important global events for the travel and tourism industry. It was held as a hybrid event this year, with the physical event taking place in ExCel London from 1-3 November and the virtual event taking place the week after from 8-9 November. This is the largest such event to be held post pandemic.
