Visit Maldives to Showcase the Destination in 10 Languages During Liverpool vs Manchester United Clash

Visit Maldives Corporation is thrilled to showcase the Maldives brand on one of the world’s largest sporting stages during the Liverpool FC vs Manchester United match, to be held at Anfield Stadium on 19 October 2025. The match will kick off at 4:30 p.m. (BST) in the United Kingdom, corresponding to 8:30 p.m. Maldives Time (GMT +5).
As part of the Official Tourist Destination Partnership with Liverpool Football Club, Visit Maldives branding will appear across Anfield’s LED perimeter boards and digital screens in 10 languages — English, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Italian, Korean, and Dhivehi — highlighting the Maldives’ global appeal and multilingual reach. For the first time in history, the word “Maldives” will appear in Dhivehi script, marking a proud and historic moment for the nation on one of the most-watched global sporting platforms.

The "Battle of the Reds" match will captivate a global audience of millions across broadcast and digital platforms. The exposure will provide an unparalleled opportunity for Visit Maldives to strengthen brand visibility, inspire future travel, and reinforce the Maldives’ positioning as a leading luxury and experiential destination.
Throughout the event, Visit Maldives will highlight the destination’s diverse tourism offerings, from world-class resorts and family-friendly experiences to adventure, wellness, and cultural travel. The campaign will also emphasise the Maldives’ commitment to sustainability and conservation, aligning with its global marketing strategy to promote responsible tourism and protect the country’s pristine natural environment.
“This is not just a football match – it will be a cultural moment shared by millions,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO & MD of Visit Maldives Corporation. “To have the Maldives name, and even our Dhivehi script, seen by hundreds of millions around the world will reflect how far
our brand has come. This partnership will continue to deliver tremendous global media value, connecting the beauty of the Maldives with passion, community, and the world’s most loyal football fans.”
The Liverpool FC partnership, launched earlier this year, continues to provide unprecedented global visibility for the Maldives across LED boards, digital content and social media activations. With matches broadcast in over 180 countries, Visit Maldives anticipates strong media value returns and high brand recall, further strengthening the Maldives’ position as a top-of-mind destination for travellers worldwide.
Participation in this collaboration underscores Visit Maldives’ ongoing efforts to diversify source markets, build emotional connections through sports and storytelling, and achieve measurable results through high-impact global partnerships.
