Visit Maldives x Red Bull Partner to Redefine Adventure: Jaan Roose Walks a Moving Slackline Between Parasail and Speedboat
In an awe-inspiring collaboration, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) and Red Bull have joined forces to deliver one of the most daring feats ever attempted in extreme sports. Estonian athlete and world-renowned slackliner Jaan Roose completed a gravity-defying walk on a moving slackline stretched between a parasail and a speedboat, high above the turquoise waters of the Maldives.
The breathtaking performance, filmed at Siyam World Maldives in Noonu Atoll, marks a groundbreaking achievement that redefines the limits of human potential and technical rigging. This bold initiative is part of Visit Maldives’ vision to showcase the country on the global stage as a premier destination for adventurous experiences.
“This was by far my most complex project,” said Roose. “Walking between a boat and a parasail – two constantly moving points – meant facing unpredictable wind, water, and motion. It required a completely new way of balancing and thinking.”
Roose, a three-time world champion in slacklining and Red Bull athlete, is no stranger to impossible stunts – from skyscrapers in Dubai to intercontinental crossings in Turkey. Yet, this was his most uncharted endeavor. The team spent days developing custom rigging solutions in the Maldives, including a unique bungee system and modified parasail toggles to provide just enough control for the walk.
Throughout the weeklong project, Roose and his team tested the limits of slackline engineering and athletic endurance, culminating in a final successful walk that demanded precise coordination between the athlete, the parasail pilot, and the boat captain.
