Maldives Halal Travel (MHT) has been represented at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), 8th edition of OIC Halal Expo 2021 at the Istanbul Congress Center (ICC) from the 25th to 28th of November 2021.

Halal Expo is an annual event organized in cooperation with the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), with the support of Ministry of Trade of Republic of Turkey and other related ministries and public institutions of the Republic of Turkey. 

Being held simultaneously with the World Halal Summit which has been organized under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, 8th OIC Halal Expo offers an outstanding exhibition area and a distinctive platform for a broad range of workshops, meetings, and side-events as well as B2B Meetings Program with the participation of professional hosted buyers and delegates among other activities related to the definition of halal.

Exhibitors include Halal tourism products, Islamic finance, Islamic textile and modest fashion, Cosmetics & personal care, Food & Beverages, Packing and Franchising opportunities. The 8th OIC Halal Expo has over 25 exhibiting countries this year with over 35,000 visitors expected to visit within the 3 days.

Dr. Hussain Sunny Umar is representing MHT at the 8th OIC Halal Expo. Backed up by his academic knowledge, expertise in developing new products, and the support of MMPRC and the Ministry of Tourism- He has ambitious plans to penetrate the halal market. 

MHT was launched at the Arabian Travel Market 2021 on the 16th of May 2021 in Dubai. Since then, they have gone onto exhibit at the 4th Annual U.S. Halal Expo & Summit 2021 held in Washington DC from October 20th to 21st, 2021 at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott and Qatar Travel Mart (QTM) 2021, the first of its kind exhibition to be held in Qatar that took place from November 16-18 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
