Introducing InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort's 2026 Festive Programme: 12 Pearls of the Ocean

InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort unveils its most immersive  festive programme to date. Inspired by the resort's stunning Indian Ocean surroundings, the  2026-27 calendar of events is themed around ‘12 Pearls of the Ocean’, an elegant journey that  invites guests to discover a new treasure each day, culminating in a spectacular New Year's Eve  finale. Running from 20 December 2026 to 7 January 2027, the twelve-day celebration  transforms Maamunagau into a stage for live music, champagne soirées, family adventures,  wellness rituals and culinary discovery, with each ‘pearl’ representing a distinct theme.
A Headline Performance Beneath the Stars with Pixie Lott
Headlining the festivities is British pop star Pixie Lott, who will take to the stage on New Year's  Eve as part of ‘The Pearl Ascension’, the grand finale bringing all twelve pearls together to  welcome the New Year in style. Known for a string of chart-topping hits, Pixie will perform for  guests following an oceanfront cocktail party and gala dinner featuring refined cuisine and  immersive entertainment. The evening builds to a midnight drone and fireworks display, illuminating the sky above Maamunagau as 2027 begins.
Twelve Pearls, Twelve Celebrations
Rather than a single countdown night, the programme unfolds across twelve consecutive days,  each dedicated to its own theme and giving guests reason to extend their stay. Highlights include  the Pearl of Welcome, kicking off the celebrations with the resort's Christmas tree lighting on 22  December; the Pearl of Togetherness on Christmas Eve, with sunset cocktails and a gala dinner  beneath the stars; and the Pearl of Joy on Christmas Day, when Santa Claus arrives on the shores  of Maamunagau. This will be followed by the Pearl of Champagne, featuring an exclusive  champagne yacht cruise and white party; the Pearl of Discovery, pairing a curated wine dinner  with a vibrant island Christmas market; and the Pearl of Play, bringing a lively lagoon party and  a moonlit dinner by the sea.
Family Adventures: Island of Wonder
Families travelling to Maamunagau this festive season will find an entire programme designed  around them. Activities include family gingerbread house making, a playful pirate cruise, a  colourful kids fashion show, a kite festival filling the skies above the lagoon, and kids cooking classes led alongside the resort's culinary team. These experiences sit alongside beach games,  immersive island photography sessions and the Pearl of the Maldives beach festival on 2 January, celebrating and educating families about Maldivian culture.
A Celebration of Art and Ocean: Canvas of the Sea
Rounding off the season's creative programming is British artist and scientific illustrator Janavi  Kramer, a qualified PADI Divemaster whose intricate watercolour works capture the character  and movement of marine life. During her residency, Janavi will invite guests to tap into their  creative side through artistic workshops, discussions around conversation and shared experiences. Guests wishing to explore the marine world around the resort firsthand can join one of the ‘Beneath the Blue’ experiences, including coral adoption through the resort's reef preservation  programme, manta ray excursions across the Raa Atoll, and guided swims alongside gentle nurse  sharks in the crystal-clear waters of Maamunagau Lagoon.
Visiting Wellness Specialist: Pearl of Tranquility
The resort will welcome Braj Raj Singh as a visiting holistic wellness practitioner during the festive  season, bringing 15 years of luxury wellbeing expertise to Maamunagau. His offerings blend  therapeutic tradition with modern technique, including Posture Rebalance Therapy, Power of  Touch, and Chakra Balancing, meaning guests will leave the island with a renewed sense of  balance and calm heading into the new year.
