Trans Maldivian Airways has been crowned the World’s Leading Seaplane Operator
Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has been awarded the Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator for the 7th consecutive year, and the World’s Leading Seaplane Operator of 2020 by the World Travel Awards 2020 for the 6th consecutive year..
World Travel Awards is the most prestigious honors program in the global travel and tourism industry, established in 1993 and recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence. It serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.

Since its inception in 1989, TMA represents a synonym for connecting the Maldives islands. It is the oldest air services operator in the Maldives and has grown to become the largest seaplane operator in the world. TMA operates its own seaplane terminal at Velana International Airport with several resort lounges and other amenities. They transport about 1 million passengers by year. Further to this, TMA is considered to be the backbone of tourism infrastructure in the country and has always played a significant role in enhancing and facilitating the growth of the tourism industry in the Maldives.

These awards are truly a testament to the love for us, and the hard work carried out by everyone involved.
